Georgia's January Manufacturing Activity

Georgia’s Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) — a reading of economic activity in the state’s manufacturing sector — decreased by 3.6 points in January, to 52.0. Although a decrease, the Georgia PMI level remains consistent with economic expansion.

Georgia's December Manufacturing Activity

Georgia’s Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) — a reading of economic activity in the state’s manufacturing sector — decreased by 4.4 points in December, to 55.6 but remains above the national and southeast averages. The national PMI rises, finishing the year with its highest reading of 2016. Manufacturing continues to expand as the economy moves into the New Year.

Georgia's September Manufacturing Activity

Georgia's August Manufacturing Activity

According to Don Sabbarese, Professor of Economics at Kennesaw State University, "The August report show that the rise in Georgia new orders and production rise to offset decreases in employment, supplier delivery time, and finished inventory." At Smith & Howard, we continue to see the challenge of finding skilled workers remains at the forefront of an otherwise optimisitic view from respondents.

Georgia's June Manufacturing Activity

Georgia’s Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) — a reading of economic activity in the state’s manufacturing sector — decreased 0.1 points during June to 49.3, its lowest level of the year despite growth in various areas. Areas with the largest decrease include employment; down 12.7 points, and production; down 9.6 points. The Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) Report is underwritten by the Manufacturing and Distribution Group of Smith & Howard, a top Atlanta CPA firm with a focus on serving manufacturing businesses, and is produced monthly by the Econometric Center at Kennesaw State University.

Georgia’s March Manufacturing Activity

According to Don Sabbarese, Professor of Economics at Kennesaw State University, "Both the Georgia and National PMIs increased. The National PMI moved above 50 for the first time since October 2015. Georgia's PMI will continue to demonstrate growth for its manufacturing sector. However, its current high levels may not be sustainable."

July 1, 2014: Georgia’s Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) — a reading of economic activity in the state’s manufacturing sector — increased 0.5 of a point during June. The Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) Report is underwritten by the Manufacturing and Distribution Group of Smith & Howard, an Atlanta accounting and advisory firm, and is produced monthly by the Econometric Center at Kennesaw State University.
